Every year in America, more than 100,000 people are shot or killed in gun related incidents. Out of the 100,000 people shot, at least 30% of them will die. Some people blame the individuals or criminals committing the crimes, but others like myself, blame the government. Our government has created laws and regulations towards gun control, but the laws that are enforced today are not enough to prevent these shootings. Our government is solely responsible for developing and enforcing laws that will protect the rights of the American people but also to protect the 2nd amendment of our constitution. The 2nd amendment of our constitution states: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” In a simpler context, our founding fathers gave us the constitutional right to possess and use guns. …show more content…
There have been too many incidents recently that show our government isn’t doing their jobs in protecting its citizens. Everyday there is a shooting that takes place in America. These numbers have been so high in the past decade for a number of reasons. Racism has always been a problem in American history but just recently it seems like racial tensions have increased. Not just between our nations police force and African Americans, but also people of different nationalities like Muslims. Race and religious tensions have been tense because of the increase of terrorism we've seen around the world. However, most mass shootings that occur within the U.S. are committing by white males. This shows that this isn’t just a race issue but a psychological issue that affects the American people. In order to deal with this issue our country faces, our government must come up with new and innovative ways to control this problem.
