The department of social workers that I am with is called the care coordination department. Each social worker is assigned to a specific floor; however, they assist each other on all floors and take on extra floors when one social worker is off for the day. For example, Kelly primarily works on the labor and delivery floor, therefore, she works with mothers and infants. That being said, she also takes patients on other floors such as, the critical care unit, pediatrics, and other floors around the hospital. On another note, HMH is a profit organization their ae many policies in place due to this. For example, once a week there is a meeting for those involved with patients who have had lengthy hospital stays and have nor yet been discharged. First, I was required to have an up to date background check sent to the hospital. second, I had to send over my immunization records, receive a TB skin test to make sure I did not have tuberculosis, and sign a waiver saying I did or did not receive a flu shot. Although these may not be requirements for all social work jobs and internships, due to the fact that the primary setting to this one is a hospital this was a requirement. The next thing I was required to do was review the abuse, neglect, and exploitation policy. Also, I had to do a review of the Emergency medical treatment and labor act. After I reviewed the information I had to take two tests and they were graded by the HR
