Perry looks at the supposed wage gap as controlled factors. These factors include having children or the level of education. He goes even further to claim that women would actually get hired more since they earn less. In this brief it calls to the attention that though the wage gap has, “narrowed between the 1970’s and 1990’s, it has largely stopped narrowing and has remained between 76 and 78 cents since 2001”. It goes into the causes of the wage gap like occupational segregation in the workforce. Men dominate high paying jobs while women tend to stick to hospitality jobs. It also brings up the problem with women being less likely to negotiated for a higher wage to men. This book has great facts to strengthen my argument making it more valid.
