Gun Violence School shootings are becoming tragically common. Tragedies like the Parkland shooting raise awareness around the nation. The newspaper article “As Gun Debate Rolls On, Teachers in This Texas School Are Already Armed” written by Molly Hennessy-Fiske demonstrates one of the approaches to gun violence that schools are practicing. A school in Texas, alongside other school districts are arming faculty to ensure the safety of students, and prevent further tragedies. It is crucial that school districts around the nation protect students regardless of the circumstances. Arming teachers assures the safety of both students and staff. Faculty, and students from Argyle High School, along with schools nationwide are reassured by the policies that are beginning to further develop. Senior student body president of Argyle, Lizzie Dagg, stated that it is “essential” (Hennessy-Fiske) to maintain safety.
