You may have heard the name Harriet Tubman, but do you know her story? Almost all of us know that she was a slave, one that escaped, but did you know that she also freed about 38 slaves in 8 trips, all in the dark of night. Also, did you know that she helped plan a military assault that freed more than 700 slaves?
Born in 1822 Harriett was a slave, she started working at the age of 7 until she was 27, which is 20 years of hard work. When she was around 27, Harriet escaped in the middle of the night. Leaving her family, friends, and her husband. Over the course of 10 years, Harriet would return about 8 times to save other slaves. Later in life, she would accomplish being a spy, working on the underground railroad, being a nurse, and even a caretaker.
