Childhood | At this stage of the child’s life peers do not have a significant influence on health behaviours as they do not attend school therefore parents is primarily the main source of health influence. | Young Person | Peers begin to have a major influence on adolescent’s health behaviours as they begin to spend more time outside of the house with peers and friends. | Adult | Adults are less influenced by peers as they have had previous education on health behaviours and developed their own attitudes towards health. | Elderly | Elderly are less likely to be influenced by peers as they are isolated from social contact. |
MEDIA Childhood | Children are more likely to be influenced my media as they are easily persuaded by advertisements, cartoons, games etc. | Young Person | Young people are the most influenced by media as they have more access to technology i.e. internet, social media. They also a high target for advertising because this age group is easily persuaded due to high demand. | Adult | Adults tend to be less influenced by media as they are aware of cons and trends presented through media. | Elderly | Elderly are highly influenced by the media because they are inactive therefore exposed to high levels of media advertising. |
GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION Childhood | Children are less influenced as they do not choice where they live, how they live and do not have an
