Is gun control necessary for the safety of the American people? Some people in the government continually spout out more gun control. According to” journal of laws, medicine & Ethics” “strict gun control has no clear meaning”. The questions remain, who should be regulated, what determining factors should be used for regulation, and how should gun laws be implemented. Only then can the United States government make clear to the American people what true gun control is. Who would be regulated? How can guns be controlled?

People that have a mental illness should not be allowed to purchase a gun. If someone with a mental illness decides to buy a gun, they should be put through many safety courses before they get a gun. People with PTSD that have been discharged from the military should not be allowed to buy a gun. People with PTSD kill themselves each year with a gun and the people do not need to lose loved ones that have served for our country. If someone is addicted to some type of drug or beer or in some type of rehab they should not be able to buy guns. Drugs play a big role in deaths each year. If someone bought a gun for someone else such as a criminal that should not have a gun would be in a lot of trouble. People who own guns and let others use them without having a license to carry one would be in the same kind of trouble as the person who committed the crime. Gun control is a safety issue, a racial issue, and a political issue.
“Guns don’t kill people, people kill people”. Gun control is not the way to solve violence; the violence will only go up. People that follow the law should not have the same consequences as the people that do not follow rules. The government will take a lot of opportunities such as hunting or target shooting away if they ban guns.
