Some people love him, others can’t stand him, but Kanye West is undoubtedly one of the most recognized name not only in the music industry, but around the world. In 2009, while clearly intoxicated, he gets on stage during Taylor Swift’s speech a makes his opinion known on her award. Everyone ridicules West for making such an unnecessary scene, and most people around the world can’t stand him. The next year, he makes one of his best critically acclaimed albums with My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and everyone that seemed to hate him are suddenly back on his side. But who is Kanye West, and what does he actually do in relation to the music industry? Most people may think that he is just a crazy lunatic that makes music, and doesn’t like paparazzis. The Kanye West people don’t get to see is the musical genius that has one of the biggest influences on music of all time. On June 8th, 1977, Kanye Omari West was born in Atlanta, Georgia. His mother Dr. Donda West was very involved in education by being an English Professor at the Clark Atlanta University, and was the chair of the English department at Chicago State University. West’s father Ray West was a “Black Panther”. Ironically, the “Black Panthers” were a group of the first African American photojournalists at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
