“I truly believe the only way we can create global peace is through not only educating our minds but our hearts and our souls”(Yousafzai). Passion, se,f-motivation and her service to others is what defines Malala's resiliency. She attended her school in Swat Valley, Pakistan, founded by her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai. When Malala was only 11 years old, she was handed the opportunity to speak up against the unequal treatment between men and women. Malala is extremely passionate about women's rights to education, and will do anything in her power to make education rights equal; though she would like to reach this through a peaceful resolution. Not only is her passion for education rights strong, but also her will to do great in the world comes from within. Malala’s self-motivation is tremendously empowering to anyone in the world.

She has taught us that there is no limit to standing up against injustice and the importance of peaceful conflict resolution. “Let us pick up our books and our pencils, they are our most powerful weapons” (Yousafzai). When Malala first began speaking up for women's rights to education, she was only 11 years old. Malala was then able to create the “Malala Fund” with her father. The Malala Fund was created so she could help the girls around the world acquire a safe education for up to 12 years. She has pushed hard and will continue to push all forms of government to ensure that this happens. In addition to standing up against injustice, Malala believed in using the power of her voice as a valuable weapon. As the Taliban tried to supress her, she used her words instead of weapons. They may have shot her but they didn’t stop her. “They thought that bullets would silence us, but they failed” (Yousafzai). If Malala hadn’t stood up for herself that day, her story wouldn’t have been shared and the world wouldn’t realize how dire their situation
