Very recently, or rather very recently at the time of writing this, I lost a friend who was very close to me. Let’s call him Greg. Greg was a steadfast man, always around to lend a hand or crack a joke that would have lightened even the darkest of moods. He was something of a de facto uncle for the vast majority of my life. But with a swift and sudden fall, he was gone. Just like that. I guess the first thing I was left feeling was anger. I immediately resorted to asking the eternal question that tends to run hand in hand with death. And that question was “Why?” Why Greg? Sure he had his demons, but who doesn’t?
