My identity is inseparable from soccer. According to my mother, a soccer ball was my earliest fixation, the sole object of my desire. At the ripe age of three, she enrolled me in the Little Strikers soccer team, igniting my love for soccer. There was always something about soccer that somehow always made me come back for more, almost like it was magnetic. The movement of the ball off the field with victory fuels players fighting to score the next goal, and all while passionate parents cheer for their kids—all of these things hold intense charm. Finally, soccer has an overpowering influence over my career choice. In seventh grade, I was introduced to my school’s athletic trainer, Matt Scott, during my soccer season. I was a relatively shy kid and struggled interacting with the older high school players, but Matt was the first one to talk with me. His willingness to engage and assist me made me forget that I was shy. Matt Scott’s willingness to engage and assist me has become a key part of my soccer journey. Whether it consisted of tending to my wrist or finger injuries to ease pain for the game or sitting and talking to distract me when I wasn’t cleared to go back on the field, Matt was always there for me. Matt was always willing to volunteer to help me at practice when I was on goal while the coach was occupied. Matt’s constant support when I was struggling kept my passion for soccer alive. He has inspired me to follow in his footsteps. Matt serves as an important role model to me, motivating me to strive to share his commitment and impact. I see myself becoming an athletic trainer who is there for more than injuries, and I hope to offer support and guidance to athletes like he did for
