Over the last three quarters, we have been given many writing assignments, many of which were essays. At the beginning, my essays were awful. I had no thesis, no attention getter, and absolutely no transitions. Then Stooks started to teach how to write an actual essay. My essays began to get better because of this and they all had decent attention getters, theses, and conclusions, but I still jumped from topic to topic and had terrible sentence structure. I didn’t understand all that well what to do for either of those, so I turned to Purdue Owl for further explanation.
