First of all, my writing has transformed over time. In kindergarten, the most complex sentence that I learnt to write was a simple sentence. At the time, it seemed to be so difficult and confusing. A thought that always seemed to cross my mind was “how could it take so long to write down a simple idea?” I felt as though learning how to express my feelings in writing was going to take a long time. In elementary school, a brainstorm was all I ever needed to start writing. There was never really proper structure. I would just write until I was content. I felt really happy doing this because I would just end up blurting out everything that was on my mind and did not edit. However, in high school, I learnt how a paragraph was actually supposed to be structured and the importance of creating a draft. That is what made me feel really conscious of writing. I realized that I could not really just write. I would have to follow the rules. I have always felt that this limited my ideas. It no longer makes me feel as happy as I once did when I wrote freely. Although I deeply detest the structured way of writing I have realized that I enjoy reading writing with structure. I like how ideas are organized instead of being scattered.
