Another probe that we should use to evaluate the students skills is the ability for the students to sound out nonsense words. It may also be beneficial to perform a curriculum-based measurement probe. This will help to get a baseline for where the student is. This, along with the other probes will give the teacher and me a baseline for where the student is. However, the teacher should focus on a few that the teachers will administer multiple times to get accurate baseline data. The two that I think would be most beneficial include, nonsense words and the R-CBM. These two probes will help us to gather information on how well the students knows various reading strategies, letter sounds, and their basic ability on reading fluency and comprehension. The best way to measure these and gather accurate baseline data is to use probes off of AIMSweb. I would like for us to administer three probes for both R-CBM and nonsense words in order to gather accurate baseline data. Once we see where the student is with baseline data, we can implement either Tier 2 or Tier 3 interventions as necessary. One type of intervention that we could use in order to improve the students reading ability is to try …show more content…
Describe an example of how you would implement data-based instruction in an academic area such as reading, math, written language or spelling with an example student (provide me with the student’s grade placement and area of difficulty). List the type of probes you would use and describe the steps involved in data collection and
