Odysseus is considered a true epic hero because he possesses a range of character traits that define him as such. First, he is incredibly intelligent and cunning. Throughout his journey, he uses his wit and cleverness to overcome obstacles and outsmart his enemies. Whether it's tricking the Cyclops or devising a plan to escape the island of the sorceress Circe, Odysseus always finds a way.

Second, Odysseus is incredibly brave and courageous. He faces numerous dangers and challenges, such as battling monsters like Scylla and Charybdis, and resisting the temptations of the Sirens. Despite these threats, he remains steadfast and never loses his determination to return home.
