In the final chapter Okonkwo unexpectedly hanged himself because he was overwhelmed of the pressure of the Commissioner, also because he beheaded one of their people so he knew they were going to go look for him and most likely kill him as well. Which did happen the district commissioner came looking for him and when the villagers took them to where he was they found him hanging from a tree. Meaning that their clansmen can not take care of the burial. Only stanger’s can touch his body and bury him because he took his own life away. They asked the commissioner if they could do it for then and they agreed. The clansmen can’t even take his body down from where he was hanging they have to get the commissioner to do it. Which was one of his biggest fears being seen as a weak man but everything just crashed down on him leading to his death. He had accomplished so many great things and let it all go. He was also overwhelmed by the commissioners from Great Britain trying to change the way of their life styles.
