The non-whites minority has had to deal with difficult situations throughout their lives. They do not get the best education that they deserve; they have to fight to get a good education. On the other hand families that are middle/high class get the best education that there is to offer. Low-income families try to help their child/children get a better education but it’s not possible because of the Opportunity Gap. This gap has affected many families and they don't know what to do. The people who aren’t affected are the middle/high income families. They don't have to deal with the problems low-income families have to face. This gap has to my closed before it gets any bigger. Families don’t have that much money for their child/children to buy them school supplies or even take them to school. These families are low-income struggle everyday just to send their child/children. Students like this have a high dropout rate because they can’t learn like that. “ With low-income students now a majority in America’s public schools and the income inequality and concentrated poverty on the rise in our neighborhoods the nation must redouble its effort to close the opportunity gap and ensure these students have all the resources and support they need to stay on track to graduate, the report states ” (The Opportunity Gap is Real, Daria Hall). This article shows how families/neighborhoods with low-income are a majority in the opportunity gap. That the poverty is becoming higher since there in our neighborhoods and in America’s public schools. Now we have to try our hardest to close this gap, we have support and give these students the right supplies in all of this. This is an important matter because it’s saying that the more students that are in the this gap the harder it is going to be to
