The issue of the gender wage gap, as we know, has been ongoing for quite some time. Most people support the concept of gender equality and workplace regulations to create a fair environment where people have equal opportunities in life. The controversy over this topic has created concern in the United States and all over the world. Improvements and awareness of this issue have been made, but women often still are paid unequally to men. Throughout this paper and my research, I have specifically looked at this topic in the state of Mississippi and mainly focused on understanding just why this even happens. This creates an unfair environment for women and makes you question why this is still happening. This is where workplace regulations step in, workplace regulations are created to help stop the gender pay wage gap between men and women. While this is still a thing, unequal pay between men and women still takes place due to certain aspects like different environmental and societal factors. While the gender wage gap is widely known between men and women, we must also take into consideration that similar differences exist between certain races and ethnicities, affecting both men and women in the workplace. These disparities are seen to occur due to certain factors similar to gender wage gaps but also discrimination. This phenomenon is not only compared to the gender wage gap between men and women, but also linked to factors of discrimination, making the issue even more complex. Research shows that both Hispanic and African American men and women encounter these discriminations compared to white men and women. These differences and inequalities affect individuals overall well-being and their day-to-day
