The best way to stay healthy is to have a good diet. Having a diet that is balanced and contains healthy amounts of calcium and Vitamin D, among other important nutrients will provide people with a healthy body, more importantly strong bones. As life goes on diets change, activity becomes more or less, stress comes and goes, and as these natural circumstances occur our skeleton is the structure that holds us all together through these times. When consumed properly the benefits are amazing to humans health. But if consumed improperly it could lead to many medical problems. Based on the information from researchers scattered about above, the consumption of calcium is very important for more than just osteoporosis. The reason why more than 34 million americans have osteoporosis (Osteoporosis) is because of the lack of calcium in their diets. The fact that more and more foods now have calcium in them does not help the progressing amount of calcium deficiency in america. The reason for this is people's diets. The fast and easy foods that people tend to buy out of convenience and not health are what is keeping bones healthy and strong. Foods such as, Kraft singles cheese, TV dinners, quick and easy frozen snacks, these say they have the necessary nutrients, but in reality they only have the necessary nutrients to pass the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) processing requirements (National Processing Agreement). This “false advertising” of the the nutritional value of foods is the downfall of finding foods to help bone health. The convenience foods need to be booted out from people’s diets and replaced with vegetables, fruits, grain, and dairy that have the most beneficial nutrients to their bodies. Calcium can be found in foods that were listed previously. Those foods are what will help the progression of osteoporosis to slow and become less of a problem in older adults.
