Hip strains can be mild, moderate, or severe. A severe strain can limit the motion of the hip. In a hip strain, muscles and tendons can be injured, strains frequently occur near the point where the muscle joins the connective tissue of the tendon. A strain can be a simple stretch in the muscle or a partial or complete tear of the muscle. Once the muscle is injured it becomes more susceptible to be injured again. Anyone can suffer from a hip strain or other hip injuries but athletes are at a higher risk. Cheerleading is a year-round activity and due to continuous training and performances, cheerleaders are at an increased risk of overuse injuries.
