Global warming is the gradual heating of Earth's surface, oceans, and atmosphere. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, “Earth's average temperature has risen by 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit over the past century.” Sadly enough, “temperatures are projected to rise another 2 to 11.5 degrees Fahrenheit over the next 100 years.” As a consequence, global warming has emerged to have one of the biggest environmental issues in the last two decades. For the past years, scientists have been struggling to provide an accurate answer if human activity has anything to do with climate change. Truth be told, “The 2010 Anderegg study found that 97-98% of climate researchers publishing most activities in the field agree that human activity is primarily …show more content…
The burning of fossil fuels has definitely benefited us by providing us with fuel for cars and airplanes, the power for electricity plants, and more importantly, the heat for our homes. Although the Industrial revolution has lead to so many remarkable inventions and advancements we don't realize how this beneficial activity is hurting us too! By burning fossil fuel we just don't create these inventions but we also release a lot of greenhouse gasses into the environment. Greenhouse gasses do in fact occur naturally, but by burning fossil fuel (especially for about 200 years) too much greenhouse gasses can be dangerous to our planet. Bill Nye states that “The composition of greenhouse gasses traps heat radiated from the sun. The more heat it traps, the warmer our planet gets and when our planet gets warmer we begin to feel the effect.” We might like the idea of a warmer planet but in reality, it’s not. Because of the high demand for burning fossil fuel, it not only affects humans negatively, on the other hand, it negatively affects our environment too. If we reduce using the car often and avoid using too much heat for our homes, we can definitely reduce global
