Dear President Joe Biden, My name is Gunner, I am 12 and am writing this letter for the ELA project. Please keep everything from this letter in mind. Police brutality affects the lives of 1000 people each year, all of whom are innocent people. I have researched this topic and think that police officers do tend to get away with crimes they commit, which is unfair to the families of the victims who have to mourn over their loved ones. I care about this topic because police should not have the right to get away with horrible crimes. Why are 1,000 people dying each year from police? This would have been a good ending, but it ended with George Floyd dying. George Floyd is not the only victim of police brutality, or the first police brutality to get more noticed in the 2000s than in the 1900s, which is a good sign of the end of it. To begin with, racial discrimination plays a big role in police brutality, especially when you look at how many people of color, including African Americans, Hispanics, Chinese, etc., have died from police violence compared to white people. While doing my research, I found that according to “Statistics, the number of people killed each year from 2013 to 2024” is that every year, 1,000 people are killed by police. Another 250,000 are injured, which is not a good look for the police or the government, especially since all of those numbers are people who committed little to no crime, but sadly, some families don't get justice at all because nobody witnessed it. The police officer says they did something to give them an excuse to kill or hurt them, but some people get lucky to get the injustice on video for evidence. This connects to when Darnella Fraizer received George Floyd's death on Camra, which was used for
