Abortion is a topic that is constantly under debate throughout the world. There are several different aspects of abortion including what abortion is, what are the different opinions on it, how it affects the mother and the unborn child, the history of abortion, and the choices that people face with abortion. The definition of abortion is, a medical or surgical procedure that ends a pregnancy. There are many reasons why people have abortions. It may be because of medical issues where the mother or child’s life is in danger. The mother may just be physically unable to carry a child through pregnancy. It could be a personal choice where the mother just doesn’t want a child or even to be pregnant with one. A mother could choose to have an abortion because she was raped or forced to have sex. The pro-life movement argues that even a non-viable, undeveloped human life is sacred and must be protected by the government. Abortion must not be legal according to this model, nor should it be practiced on an illegal basis. Often many pro-life people believe that an immortal soul is implanted at conception, and if personhood is determined by the presence of the immortal soul, then there is no difference between terminating a week-old pregnancy or killing a living, breathing person. Some members of the pro-life movement do acknowledge that there exists a difference in intent. Therefore, abortion would be at worst involuntary manslaughter rather than murder, but the consequences are the same, the death of a human being. Many who are pro-life view these as the same thing. There also some that argue that the presence of life or of unique DNA define
