A social issue is simply defined as a problem that not only affects oneself, but as well as a large number of others. Personally, I am usually one to purpose more freedom in choice, exclusive of certain topics. A issue I find irritating is abortion, which is a very large debate worldwide. Abortion, along with many other social issues, causes riots, protests, sadness, fear, and a multitude of other things. The spectrum of this topic ranges enormously in many different ways, from pro-life to pro-choice.
Abortion is “any of various surgical methods for terminating a pregnancy” (Abortion). What this means is during a pregnancy, a baby can be surgically removed and terminated, as in taking the life away. The way that society has classified separate sides of this topic is pro-life, and pro-choice. Pro-life is when somebody's morals shows that the life of a human, in any way, shape or form is precious and matters. This side believes that no matter the size of the baby, a baby is a baby, and deserves a life whether the biological parents choose to raise the him/her or not. Pro-choice is a side of society that believes Americans deserve the freedom to make their own decisions. “Including foreign children, around 58,000 children are adopted annually which is much less than the demand. According to research, only about 4% of women who do not want their child give him/her up for adoption. If 50% of women gave their child up for adoption, the demand would still not be met” (Every Child a Wanted Child). So what does this mean? If women choose to go through with the pregnancy, give the baby up for adoption, and give the baby life, then we will be closer to meeting the needs of other families who are waiting for a
