The recent school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School has sparked a national debate about guns that America knows all too well. Across the country, schools are scrambling to do something that will reassure both parents and students that they will be safe at school. Ideas such as raising the age to buy a gun and expanding background checks have been thrown around but the idea of arming teachers has gotten the most heat. Yes, teachers are the guardians of the students, but that doesn’t mean guns should be handed to the teachers. Because supposedly giving guns to a teacher is the best option. They are here to educate and help Lily Eskelsen Garcia believes that "we need solutions that will keep guns out of the hands of those who want to use them to massacre innocent children and educators. There has to be other ways to fight off this problem without a foul, wretched AK.

Re:“Teachers are here to teach not protect”
I disagree with and many things you have said in the article. Teachers are trained in education and caring for their students, so protecting them should be within their realm of tasks they should be capable of doing. They aren’t going to cause danger by being armed. They are human beings who can think for themselves, and who naturally want to protect themselves and others. A Study shows that most people trained to protect aren’t going to kill those they are trying to protect. And just because a few teachers briefly mishandled firearm, that doesn’t mean they all will.
