Have you ever been in school when there was an active shooter? Over the past 15 years, the risk of a school shooting has been on the rise. Every single day in America, 12 young innocent kids die from gun violence. In 2023, there were roughly 350 school shootings in America. That is almost a shot every day. As time goes on, the threat keeps increasing, so how do we solve it? Some people would argue that teachers should be allowed to conceal carry when school is in session. Teachers can act right away in the event of a shooting instead of waiting for police, and many schools are in small towns which don't have a town cop so teachers having guns lets them act right away instead of waiting a while, and many kids will feel safe knowing the teacher …show more content…
The shooter would know that he wouldn't have any time to even do anything or get away before the cops got there. U.S. News says that “Even if teachers have a gun on them, there is not a 100% guarantee that there won't be a school shooter.” Some people would say that the shooter wouldn't care if a teacher had a gun, but that's why there isn't a 100% guarantee that there won't be a shooter. With having a teacher have a weapon, this could limit the school shootings we have been having. Another good reason for teachers to have guns in school is because there is limited law enforcement. A website named Quora informed me that “Some schools are in small towns, and some small towns don't have a town cop.” Therefore it would take extra time to make it to the school because some small towns are almost half an hour away from a bitter city, so it would take almost half an hour for help to arrive. Therefore, teachers carrying guns in school can minimize injuries, because they can act right away, and can make many kids feel safe. While it may be true that many kids feel safer during a shooting if their teacher has a firearm and they feel they will be safer, nevertheless there is still a very deadly
