Sunblock Opposed to Sunscreen
Throughout the years, skin cancer has been a major problem within society which could have been prevented if sun protection awareness was enforced in government laws/education system. Research has shown that melanoma, is considered the most serious type of skin cancer due to the dark spots effect on the skin, which develop in basal cells at the base of the epidermis due to the exposure of UV rays. Several forms of prevention towards ultraviolet sun rays have been found in research such as assessments towards skin examination which should be reinforced by doctors. Sunblock, is now necessary due to the high intensity of sun ultraviolet rays which could develop skin cancer; furthermore, sunscreen absorbs ultraviolet

According to Jones, sunscreen is known as a sun protectant which filters the sun UV rays whereas sunblock reflects the sunrays away from the skin and blocks the rays not letting them induce into the skin. Moloney’s analysis reflects the effects of sunscreen may include “burning, tanning, and chronic changes leading to cancer, elastosis, wrinkling, and pigmentary mottling” (187). On the other hand, sunblock has several advantages such as “effective water repellency, non-irritancy, and stability” (Matravers). For that reason, research indicates that the need for a protective coating on the skin is essential because the facts have proven that the “sunlight contributes to aging as well as to carcinogenesis by amplifying ultraviolet injury” (Matravers). Based on that, an adequate sun protection factor should be taken into consideration to prevent the damaging DNA repair …show more content…
Sunblock contains “organic and non-organic ingredients that sit on top of the skin acting as a barrier between [one’s] skin and damaging UV rays by reflecting or scattering UVB light” (Matravers). Neutrogena Corporate waterproof sun blocker has several advantages such as a strong resistance towards being washed off, physiological inertness, and gives the customers a sense of silky skin without feeling tackiness which is a reason why they decided to incorporate sunblock in their cosmetics (Matravers). Matravers analysis explains the procedure of the translucent sun blocker that was made to protect the skin. The quantitative results indicate that sunblock contain “ingredients such as “titanium dioxide and zinc oxide” which block ultraviolet radiation (Matravers). Lifespan recommends that one should look for sunblock that contains “octinoxate, oxybenzone, octisalate, benzophenone or methyl anthranilate in the active ingredients” which physically block the sun ultraviolet rays from one’s skin (Jones). Based on that, society should strongly consider purchasing Neutrogena waterproof protection; however, insufficient information is available for the
