People can be at risk for cancer by doing everyday tasks. Cancer is a common disease that cannot always be cured. People often put themselves at risk for cancer while doing the activities they do and going to the places they go, every day. The environment and the way people live their lives can contribute to the risk of getting cancer. Some of the most common types of cancers risk factors and causes come from the environment and lifestyles people have. For example, asbestos are minerals that are known to cause lung cancer and can be found in construction sites and buildings in the walls and floors. Some cancer cases are caused by genetics or family history with that cancer, but the environment plays a bigger part in cancer.
Cancer is a disease produced by cells that have gone mad. There are many ways people can get cancer. The risk of getting cancer increases with how people live, and the quality environment or air. There are …show more content…
These substances are carcinogens (Pecorino, 2011). The main cancer that radiation causes is skin cancer. Radiation comes from the sun, ultraviolet lights, and x-rays. People’s risk for getting skin cancer from the sun depends on where people live in the world. In North America is where skin cancer is most common. This is because people want to have tan skin, so they do not put on sunscreen, and that could lead to skin cancer (Andreassi, 2011). Areas in the world that also have a lot of skin cancer cases are places near the equator because the higher radiation levels. Skin cancer is one of those cancers that people believe it is caused by genetics. This is because some of the major risks factors have to do with the traits that some people have. For example, people with lighter hair, skin, and eyes are more likely to get skin cancer than people who have darker hair, skin, and eyes.
