Skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer around, with basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma as the primary skin cancers that affect people today. Melanoma is the most dangerous form of skin cancer and is responsible for 75% of all skin cancer related deaths, while basal and squamous cell carcinoma being the two most common and curable types of skin cancer. Prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light exposure, either from the sun or from tanning beds is a common risk factor for skin cancer. It is estimated that roughly 9,500 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with skin cancer daily.
