If you ask anyone what smoking weed does, many people might say that it causes relaxation and unconsciousness. In Some Kind of Girl by Caroline Kautsire, in chapter “Swamp Weed” the author argues about a place called the Swamp, which is a place near Quincy High School for drinking and smoking without getting in trouble. The narrator stayed away from places that caused harm to her. Kautsire was trying to find a good friend to tell her what America was all about. Kautsire found an American friend called Rebecca, and she fit Kautsire's criteria for a good friendship. Rebecca is a girl who dresses well and does not deal with boys or skip classes, but Kautsire could bear the unpleasant smell of her smoking drugs because she did not smoke with her at the beginning. One day, before psychology class, Rebecca took Kautsire to the swamp. Rebecca offered Kautsire to smoke weed, and she agreed. She wanted to prove that she could smoke like a professional. Kautsire is high on the list. She felt crazy, laughed at everything she saw, and felt like she could barely walk on the ground. I trust her as a reader because Kautsire shows me through her feelings in this chapter how good a person she is. She cares about her teachers in her speech and psychology classes. She felt upset when she went to psychology class high: "I felt terrible about smoking before one of my favorite classes.” (75). Kautsire was not able to participate in the speech class because she was laughing a lot and " never completed the speech because Professor Maude felt I was too unfocused"(75). What she said made me feel how much she felt regret and that she was a good person who wanted to be away from this situation and feeling. Also, she shares her experience in detail, openly and honestly with us as readers and that made me trust
