Essentially, what Adams means in all this is that everyone has a fair shot no matter what background they are, they just have to be willing to put the work in. Ultimately, if they put the work in and strive to accomplish their American Dream, they will then triumph in their ambitions.
One of the most prominent perceptions of the American Dream is “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as stated in the Declaration of Independence (Jefferson). Thomas Wolfe once said, “to every man, regardless of his birth, his shining, golden opportunity… the right to live, to work, to be himself, and to become whatever thing his manhood and his vision can combine to make him” (What is the American Dream). This statement means that every human being in America receives the ability to act as a citizen in society and to seek his or her goals and aspirations. As the sun started to come down and the golf was done for the day, DeLana headed over to the bowling alley. At the bowling alley he would be in the back setting up pins for bowlers playing late night pick-up games. Early on in life DeLana worked extreme hours ranging from the crack of dawn till midnight or even later. After he got out of college, a small 900 square foot printing press and turned it into Heritage Printing Press. Today, the press is called Heritage- The Integrated Resource, and it is a huge nation wide interaction for companies looking to promote strategically, print resourcefully and distribute smoothly (DeLana). DeLana started out with little, but had the desire to alter his financial state for the better of him and the people around him. After wining the 2013 Lewis Memorial Lifetime Achievement presented by Printing Industries of America, for the highest award given to an individual in the graphic arts industry, “he said: “I started out with money being extremely tight, but high aspirations.” He also went on to say that “Even in tough times, if you are dedicated enough to the thing you love, and believe in yourself, anything is possible.” Even if a person starts at the bottom of the pole, as long as they have the drive to succeed, they can work their way up just like David DeLana did.
However, many people today, believe the American
