There is an all-time low in the level of intelligence of the average United States student. Year-round school is not the solution to this epidemic. Some issues with year-round school include the much-needed break the brain needs to continue learning, and the sense of maturity advancement students feel when advancing a grade. One major reason that this will not work is the ongoing lack of funding education is receiving. First, the brain needs a break. Year-round schooling will drain the developing human brain, especially in younger children. Without the long summer break currently implemented in schools today, students will lose the chance to learn outside the classroom. This will hurt our students in their social development.
