Nature of work: The social work career identifies the needs of many different clients that are going through a lot of issues, and problems in their daily lives. These clients need stability, and the Social worker is there to lead that helping hand. The problems that clients go through can be anything from needing assistance for care for a minor child, or elder adult, to needing extra resources to live day to day. Social workers also “respond to crisis situations such as child abuse and mental health emergencies” (Source & Statistics, 2017). Another job that the Social worker has is checking back with clients that they have worked with to see how they are doing with the resources that were provided. “A BSW prepares students for direct-service positions such as caseworker or mental health assistant. These programs teach students about diverse populations, human behavior, social welfare policy, and ethics in social work” (Source & Statistics, 2017). Employment Trends: According to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), many Americans had to change the way they live over the past few years, which as the Census data 2010 US says, it has cause many people to live in poverty or be considered to be living in a low-income home (Social work month 2012 - adolescent and youth development, 2017). We have a lot of single mothers, and fathers who are having a hard time making ends met with the finances they have.
