I am writing to you today in regards of the importance of vaccinating the community. There are a few specific reasons that I’d like to talk about why I believe everyone should be vaccinated. The first and probably most obvious is that vaccines will help keep you healthy. The second reason is cost; choosing to not vaccinate yourself can actually end up costing more in the long run. The third reason is a bit more serious, vaccination can mean the difference between life and death in some situations. As mentioned before vaccinations will help keep you healthy. A recent studied showed that flu vaccine reduced the risk of intensive care to children by 74% from 2010-2012. That is a significant number, especially when it comes to children. Children are especially vulnerable to disease and reducing their suffering should be a goal of every parent. Choosing to not vaccinate because of cost can actually end up costing you more in the long run. An average influenza can last about 15 days which is time when you cannot work. Time that you cannot work is time that you can’t make money. Not to mention that added costs if you have to be hospitalized. Vaccines are like house insurance, you hope to never have to use it but you’re glad you have it when you need it.
