Stigma is becoming very prevalent within mental illness. Stigma is defined as “our manifest to avoid specific individuals (‘establish social distance’)” (Burns 65). Stigma is influenced by the people you surround yourself with and the situation which stigma is present. People who do not have mental illnesses may become ignorant of the fact that people actually are sick and suffering from a real illness. People will avoid an individual because of the mental illness the person is suffering from. The avoidance of certain people is more common in elders than it is in younger people, but there is no hard evidence as to why that is (Burns). Men are less likely to raise a family while women are less likely to financially support their whole families. Not that this is not likely to ever happen, just in traditional ways and households, men are more likely to be the dominant source of income, while women take care of their family, networking events, and personal matters. Men will not be able to understand the stress women have. Also, since women are significantly less aggressive than men, women are not able to understand a man's aggression. Women are more emotional and will deal with stress by focusing on their feelings. Women are more likely than men to open up about their feelings and seek support. Police have body cameras and citizens phones now all have cameras to record a police officer’s actions. The police officer’s actions are being watched all of the time and even recorded without consent. In terms of our current health care, our members in the government such as congress and courts are making it so no matter what, those members are getting health care, taking care of themselves first, then putting others next. This effect’s police because their health care matters just as much as anyone else’s, especially when officers need therapy or treatment from dealing with dangerous situations. Since President Trump is trying to repeal Obamacare, it has not been successful in doing so because there has not been a new bill passed to replace Obamacare. Mental health is important to people who understand it or know people suffering from an illness. People tend to carry a bashful stigma that mental health is dangerous, making those people ignorant toward people suffering from an illness. Since our current politics have changed, President Donald Trump has been there to help our police forces get stronger by opening more jobs. If a person is likely able to be identified with a mental illness, police discretion could be to stay away from the situation or take full force to prevent anything bad from happening if they perceive the mental
