It started in a blur. Wrestling season was upon me. This year would be my last season of wrestling before high school, it was also only my second. I had started wrestling a year ago and soon i'd be going against high schoolers. I didn’t know if i'd have what it takes to compete at a more a higher level; nevertheless, I was ready to train.
I was tying my brand new white Dan Gable III wrestling shoes on the all black mat of our school’s wrestling room. The place was enormous, with ceilings that could never be touched by a human hand, and the smell of the old white brick room reminded me of a cold winter day where the furnace creates a stale heavy heat in the room.
“Alright everybody up, it’s time to start warm ups,” shouted our head wrestling coach.

I was strong, but I didn’t have much technique to go along with it. I’d seen all my buddies wrestle and I’ve noticed a few differences from me to them. They had finesse and style when they were on the mat, and all I had was strength and aggressiveness. I knew a skillset like that would never let me succeed at the next level. In that moment I made it my goal to improve myself as a wrestler by working on the details.
The wrestling season consists of two parts. The first part is school wrestling which is organized through the school. There are practices everyday after school and there are usually about two meets held a week either at your home gym or any opposing team's gym. When school wrestling is concluded, which is usually after about 2-3 months then club season starts. In club wrestling you generally only have 2-3 practices a week and have tournaments on the
