To be a good leader is not an easy goal to accomplish. Leaders could not be defined as perfect, but should be looked to as role models. It takes dedication, knowledge, selflessness and optimism to achieve great leadership. When dedicating oneself to being a great leader, one must keep in mind that it will not be an easy obstacle to surpass. A large part of being a leader and the concept behind what it takes to be a leader is defined by different traits and characteristics of oneself. Some are given the gift of leadership, and some take some time to grasp the concept but obtain the skills needed to be a leader. But it takes a leader to make a leader. A topic most commonly overlooked when defining a leader. A leader will be confronted with questions that some will see as a test or clarification to determine a leader or if this leader should be shown respect. When entering role as a leader, one does not simply obtain the role with respect from a team. The team will first make their observations and individually determine the respect they will provide to their leadership. When working in a call center for example, new hires observe their surroundings. They grasp on to the individuals around them who know what they do, and how they do it to be where they are. This shows an example of clarity. When a leader provides clarity, it allows for the individual or individuals to understand not what is entrusted for them to do, but to also be able to exceed the expectations provided to them. To not only set themselves to a certain degree, but overpower the problem in front of oneself. Some individuals have more knowledge and/or experience of courage, born with a gift of fearlessness. While others learn what courage is and how to surpass their fears to obtain that courage. When being a leader, courage means taking risks. Being able to handle the good or bad outcomes of decisiveness and clarity. With courage also comes confidence. To have courage with leadership, confidence allows for the leader to be secure and confident with the decision they have made.
