In today’s society across the globe there are many people who can show that they are capable of being a great asset and present their skills. Many can show what they are capable of being a hard worker into today’s society. There are jobs all over the country a lot of people can do. People with disabilities have that same opportunity and can show they can be great assets to businesses. Disabled employees can show they are hardworking, prove their loyalty and bring a diverse workforce that can come together. People with disabilities help diversify our culture. Judy Owen believes, which can also benefit the workplace with disabilities, hiring a diverse workforce includes people with disabilities (Owen). Owens diction shows it can bring race, gender or disabilities all in one. Her statement shows that individuals with disabilities should also not be segregated. They have the same rights as everyone else in regards to race, gender, and religion. Equally, Aaron Gottlieb has the same point of view as Owen. In a statement he said, “Individuals with disabilities need to be in customized or supported employment, rather than in sheltered and segregated settings” (Gottlieb). Gottlieb shares the same point of view as Owens. Correspondingly, Gottlieb feels that people with disabilities need to be employed because it is a discrimination if they are not. It is not right for a person to be discriminated but with the Americans with Disabilities Act it shows why it helped bring a diverse group of people together. It states, “ The American with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in employment, transportation, public accommodation, communications, and governmental activities.” The ADA was great piece of act to bring in disabilities into the workforce. The act shows how people can’t be discriminated from getting a job because of their disability. The ADA can bring a diverse workforce together no matter what race, gender, or religion this piece of act shows that no one can be discriminated from a job.
