People come in all different shapes and sizes. In today’s society, most people are worried about discrimination against races. They overlook the other people who are also discriminated against. People with disabilities struggle to have a normal life, and most of the time it’s not because of themselves. Businesses have a difficult time allowing disabled people to work. On top of not being able to have a job, society will treat them differently and they will struggle to make friends. Society needs to know that people are people no matter what they look like or what characteristics they have. The thing that adults do for most of their lives (jobs) is stripped away from those who are disabled. America leaves the disabled behind just because society thinks that people who are able to be better suited for working. In 2014, only 17.1% of disabled people were employed. Some businesses think that people with learning disabilities or that are slower in some way will be bad, but people with disabilities stick with jobs and are a lot better employees. Kids with disabilities have a hard time getting friends. They are called names and made fun of because they aren’t like others. In an article by The Huffington Post, a man was interviewed about his experience. He said that in school “Students judged and ridiculed me for having a learning disability. They called me names and asked me strange questions…” This is not how kids should be treated no matter what they are like. If anything, kids that have learning disabilities or any disability should have more friends because their lives are already more difficult. A disability should not be a label and should not be keeping a person from having a life full of friends and
