Gender. Identity. Conflict. Social justice. Literature. Each of these terms is heavily loaded, and every individual has strong opinions on the true definition of these terms. Several of these terms-- namely gender, identity, and social justice-- are highly debated in modern times. So the question must be asked; what are MY definitions of these terms?
Gender is, to me, a largely identifying part of an individual. Whereas sex is what one is generally born with, gender is entirely a choice. While most of the population are more “traditional” genders (male and female), there are many people who identify as more “non-traditional” genders such as gender fluid and non-binary.

Conflict is simply a difference in opinion, whether it is over a fairly trivial or incredibly important issue.
Social justice is the idea of fighting for minorities or people in need. Our society is full of inequality. Every minority faces inequality, whether it is over sexuality (same-sex marriage only became legal nationwide 3 years ago), gender (wage gap), or race (police brutality directed towards black men, or, more recently, police being called on innocent black people). Social justice is fighting for the rights of marginalized people, and striving towards total equality.
Literature is a piece of writing. However, not all pieces of writing are literature. To be considered literature, the writing needs to truly earn the title. Literature has meaning and depth, and can transcend decades and even centuries. Books that are considered classics are often also literature. It can be up to the individual to determine what literature is to them, as there is not a set definition of requirements; however what is considered literature is usually widely accepted as being
