Objective: To evaluate the use to antidepressants in patients with heart failure
Data Sources: PubMed, Google Scholar, Clinical Pharmacology
Data synthesis: There are studies that evaluate the use of antidepressants in heart failure patients resulting in all-cause mortality and hospitalizations.
Conclusions: The use of antidepressants in patients with heart failure can lead to many cardiovascular adverse effects. When use is warranted and necessary, the safest class of antidepressants to use is an SSRI.
