Vincent Van Gogh once said, “If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.” While Van Gogh was alive his work was not appreciated and many people told him to stop but he never did. He always did what he loved and that was paint, write and draw. None of his work became famous until after he died, but now some of his work are some of the most famous paintings ever. He was right to never listen to the people who told him to stop and it all paid off in the end. Van gogh was a crazy man with big dreams. He never gave up and always kept working, even when he didn’t have a canvas to work on.

He created these 900 paintings in a span of 10 years (which means he had a new painting almost every 36 hours), and which are now known as the most well-known and greatest works of art. He also wrote over 800 letters during his life and most went to his brother and closest friend, Theo. He was the king of post-impressionistic selfies and was well known for his self portraits. Some of Van Gogh’s work isn't even signed because he only signed something if he thought it was done and when he did sign something he signed it “Vincent” instead of his full name. He also considered many of his painting failures, like his most famous painting, The Starry Night. The Starry Night depicts the view from his bedroom in the asylum and after he finished this masterpiece, in 1889, he did not think it was very good.
