What I Learned In My Writing Class

In this course, I believe that I have improved my writing skills more than I first thought I would. It was a good reminder of everything that I was taught in high school about writing as well as teaching me new techniques and methods that can improve writing essays or any academic paper greatly. I learned a lot about how writing styles will change depending upon whom you are writing too. Writing to a professor or teacher would be highly more formal than if you are writing to peers or those younger than you are.
This course has taught me a lot about analyzing and reviews pieces of my writing. It has helped me look and my writing and easily narrow down what errors I should be looking for and how I can correct such errors. The time that it takes to revise a paper has been used more proficiently now than before I started this class. Before this class when revising papers I did not really have idea where to start but, only that I was looking for grammatical, spelling, and any other mistakes. I learned how to establish credibility in my writing by finding sources that are most appropriate to use for the essay I am writing and what my topic is. I have a new-found respect for peer revision. In this course, I have more depth read my sources and tried harder to understand what they were saying and have found that they are a lot more helpful when I have a full understanding of what they are telling me. I also do not panic as much over a writing assignment like I used to before this class. I now feel like I know where to start when given a writing prompt. Before I would spend the majority of my time just re reading what I was supposed to be doing rather actually writing and ultimately confusing myself. I found that if I read the prompt once and write what I want to talk about I can narrow the paper into smaller
