Motivation “Of the about 6 million Jewish people who were murdered in the Holocaust, 1.5 million were children. “ (Holocaust museum in Houston) During World War 2 Adolf Hitler, an Opportunist and a person of antisemitism, rose to power after the great depression in Germany. He later formed a group of antisemitism groups called the Nazis that helped him build a concentration camp called Auschwitz, that killed up to 15,000 Jews per day, (USA Study). It also had a system in which people's families would be separated and those who were disabled or didn't have any benefit to help all got murdered. “The same thought surfacing over and over, not to be separated from my father” (Wiesel 35). As a result, Elie survived because of his love for his father. By revealing how Elie never wanted to be separated from his father. He did anything to be with his father, and went as far as taking out a gold crown to not see his dad obtain beatings any more. The thought of him not being with him at all times made him feel sick. Which made Elie always make sure he did everything with his Dad. Their relationship with each other is persevering, but with one another. Elie and his Dad went through hard things, but they both reminded each other on why they need to try their best to survive, so that they can make it out of the concentration camps, but sadly Elie’s father didn’t make it out alive. Herzberger, the Holocaust survivor, perseveres through trust, and faith in God.
