The society of Fahrenheit forces and teaches firemen to cause fire rather than extinguishing them. In our world, firefighters are taught to protect civilians at all costs. They have different goals and ways of working; however, they are both highly dependent on their government. In the book, someone mentions that in the past firemen prevented fires and the firemen found that hard to believe, rather than the ones from our world that would never cause a fire on purpose unless its needed. The author had to use his imagination on how the technology would work. In the world of Fahrenheit 451, the tech is different than in our world. Everywhere you go you will find screens the size of houses. Even the firemen have robotic hounds with eight legs. The house is completely fireproof. The TVs are the size of the walls, and the firemen have hoses that spit fire. ”’Below, the Hound had sunk back down upon its eight incredible insect legs and was humming to itself again, its multifaceted eyes at peace”’ (Bradbury Ray). Our technology is similar in many ways, for example, we have made artificial robots to clean our houses and help us in our everyday lives.
