In my classes' interactive oral we discussed the cultural and contextual considerations of Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis. We discussed reasons why Kafka wrote his novel in Germany and how the story lost humor through time.

In our discussion, we came up with many ideas for Kafka's reasoning in writing the novel in German. Most people in my class agreed that Kafka wrote it in Germans because of his background. Kafka grow up in Prague, Austria a predominantly Jew region where they spoke Czech. However, we learned that Kafka actually didn't speak much Czech like the rest of the Jews in his area, he spoke German.
