More than a third of U.S. adults and 17 percent of U.S. children are obese. Part of this is due to sitting down for such long periods of time. All the kids are so energetic and ready to be active but at school they're just have to sit down and be still, which is bad for the health of teens. Postural muscles are a specific type of muscle fiber that handle low-intensity activity (Sitting Kills). By sitting down all the time we are getting weaker and posture muscles are getting weaker as well. Sitting can even cause type 2 diabetes from fat in the bloodstream. There are obviously bad effects on health of sitting too long. Some people say that a longer break is a waste of school time, but they are wrong. It will make students more productive therefore we will do better in school. It may result in a longer school day, but students will be happy and not care about a longer day. Others may say that the specific details are too complicated but I argue that a longer lunch break is highly beneficial and would be a great idea aside from the details. A longer lunch break is beneficial to many people. Longer lunch breaks can mean more focused and on task kids and teens. It can also mean less health problems from sitting down for too long. A child's brain chemistry proves that kids need more time to move around. Therefore, a longer break is a good idea for the
