Officer Ben Fields was called to the classroom after the female student refused to put her cell phone away and leave the room at her teacher’s order. The young girl refused the teacher’s request, so Fields was called in. He apprehended her, slammed her backward to the ground, and dragged her to the front of the classroom. Videos filmed and captured of the incident by students quickly spread on social media last week and sparked immediate outrage. Students and former students reported that Officer Fields had been brutal and rough like this for years. Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott emphasised that the incident started and was caused by a student who was refusing to let the teacher continue to teach the class. Force should not be used when an assumption has been made about someone by a bystander or the officer, or when a police officer isn't very fond of the suspect’s race,color,and or appearance. Police officers should be able to tell when force is absolutely necessary, and when it is
