Diabetes refers to a complex set of problems that result in elevated levels of blood sugar. It is a disease that causes problems over time. Complications may even result in death therefore, it is important to understand this disease as well as its types. Here, we present the types of diabetes as well as a brief description of the methods used to control these conditions.
Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 diabetes occurs because the body of the patient fails to produce the insulin required to control the blood sugar as well as the other related functions. It is often termed as Juvenile Diabetes because it usually affects young individuals.

The disease needs to be managed with medicine once it is diagnosed.
The first line of treatment in type 2 medicine is the drug, Metformin. It is a drug which is proven to reduce the rate of mortality among the affected individuals. This drug can decrease the production of glucose which happens in the liver.
There are other drugs as well that help in controlling the type 2 diabetes. Some of them increase the sensitivity of the body to the insulin while others increase the production of the natural enzyme. Long action insulin is often used when patients find it difficult to manage the condition with medicines.
