Now that I am (almost) finished with Honors English 8 (and just 8th grade in general), I have a lot of things to think about. For one thing, I shouldn’t have been so optimistic at the beginning of the year. I thought that just by getting into the 8th grade, all of my old bad habits would disappear in an instant. I have found that 1) that isn’t true AT ALL; habits take a long time to break, and 2) I didn’t really give myself the time to break said habits, and I ended up in an even deeper rabbit hole…

In this course, I believe that I have improved my writing skills more than I first thought I would. It was a good reminder of everything that I was taught in high school about writing as well as teaching me new techniques and methods that can improve writing essays or any academic paper greatly. I learned a lot about how writing styles will change depending upon whom you are writing too. Writing to a professor or teacher would be highly more formal than if you are writing to peers or those younger…

the first writing class I have taken in college. While I took AP Lit in high school this class was completely different from what I was expecting. This course has helped me grow as a writer. While there were times that frustrated me, they ended up being my biggest triumphs. Growing as a writer should be the goal in every writing or english class. While that is usually never the case for me, this class has done the impossible. Writing summaries has never been one of my fortes and I was resigned to…

For the leadership activity, my group had to decide on a topic to teach the class that would inspire others to work hard to accomplish the given task. After discussing various topics, my group decided to teach the class origami. We taught our classmates three different origami pieces, the first one being a frog, the second being a balloon, and the third being a crane. The pieces went in order from beginner, intermediate, and difficulty level. Before the day of the presentation, my group had encountered…

What I have learned I have enjoyed this class so far. I can’t believe we only have one assignment left! While I do believe I have good writing skills, there is always room for improvement and I believe I have come a long way. I have learned several things in this class, but the most important being: that I can use hyphens to make my work look and sound more professional, that I need to write out numbers instead of as numerical, and my over-use of too many commas. When looking back at my first…

About seven years ago on my ninth birthday I brought treats to school to share with my class at the end of the day. My classmates wrote down their homework assignments in their agendas and lined up for my teacher to sign and approve them. Once they got their signature, I would hand them their treat. I didn’t have much time to gather my homework because I was so busy, so a few hours later when I decided to do my homework, I realized that I had forgotten my reading assignment. This wouldn’t have been…

rush of excitement combined with nerves and jitters. I took a deep breath as I took my first step into my English classroom, DS204. I apprehensively made my way to a seat as far from the front of the classroom as the little suite would allow. As I sat down and anxiously waited for the bell to ring, thoughts filled my head as I reminisced on the struggles I faced my 8th grade year. I remember excelling in all of my classes... except English. I have always loved reading and writing but my 8th grade…

Tell me 5 things you learned from the book that you didn’t know before. While reading the book, I learned an abundance of new terms I didn’t know before this class, which was interesting to me. We also learned a bit of psychology when learning about how our brains think and why it thinks the way it does. I learned how to efficiently fight with another human, which is very useful considering most people argue with someone at some point in their life. I also learned how to communicate with my family…

3 (learned technology and about self) I have learned about technology through the Advance Online Learning Strategy class, PF282-G4CC, but I have also learned about what defines a learning community and how to successfully participate in one. Through the various assignments, I have mastered the use of technology as never before. I have learned to communicate through e-mail to my instructor and classmates. I have learned to use the online library to access various research articles. I have…

I have been attending Stockton for a while now, and in that time, I have learned many things. As a computer science major, I learned how to program, develop software, analyze systems, and many other things as well. Throughout the course I have taken, I have worked on projects and assignments that tested my knowledge of what I have learned. However, I feel like this project has been the greatest test of all of them. Additionally, it has been the most rewarding use of the skills I have learned up to…
